This Tanto sword epitomizes the exquisite craftsmanship and traditional techniques of Japanese sword making. Crafted using the ancient method, the blade showcases a GYAKU-KOBUSE construction, a specific type of KOBUSE construction. This construction method employs two distinct steel types—the core steel and the outer steel—where the core steel is enveloped by the outer steel. Notably, the core steel is harder than the outer steel, and the outer steel is created through folding, resulting in a remarkable 8192 layers for an ideal combination of strength and flexibility.

The blade's appearance is marked by the mesmerizing undulating grain pattern, a testament to the intricate folding process during forging. The core steel comprises 1095 steel, a well-known high carbon steel, while the outer steel is folded multiple times, contributing to its layered beauty. The blade undergoes thorough refinement and tempering, further enhanced by the application of a special clay. This clay application results in a distinctive hamon (temper line) through differential cooling—a testament to the swordsmith's precision and mastery.

The meticulous craftsmanship extends to the polishing process. The blade is meticulously hand polished using multiple grade sharpening stones by employing the Japanese method. What's truly remarkable is the finishing touch with HAZUYA, an ultra-fine Uchigumori stone fixed with paper. The blade is honed to a mirror-like shine, with the Hamon and edge brought to perfection. The superior craftsmanship is complemented by a high-quality brass Tsuba (guard) boasting a dragon design, along with a one-piece brass Habaki (blade collar).

The handle, or Tsuka, is a masterpiece on its own. Crafted from hard wood, it is meticulously wrapped with alternating black synthetic silk tsuka-ito and red genuine ray skin samegawa, secured in a very tight Hineri-maki wrap style. The handle's elegance is further elevated by two copper dragon design menuki. The tang is securely held in place by two bamboo Mekugi (pegs).

The Tanto comes encased in a hard wooden Saya (sheath) adorned with smooth sanded and lacquer-filled red genuine ray skin (Same'). A buffalo horn koiguchi (scabbard mouth) and a buffalo horn kurikata with a bright copper shitodome are the finishing touches.
