Introducing the meticulously hand-forged Tanto from Abkatana Forge – a masterpiece born from time-honored Japanese methods. Crafted with the utmost precision, this Tanto encapsulates perfection in blade craftsmanship.

The blade, fashioned from 1095 high carbon steel, exemplifies the epitome of blade-making artistry. Laminated in the Maru style with a clay temper line, it bears testament to the mastery of its creators. The blade's full tang construction, coupled with a chu-kissaki (medium length tip), showcases both resilience and aesthetic excellence.

Impeccably refined and tempered, a special clay is meticulously applied to the blade – a thin layer near the edge and a thicker one over the rest. This meticulous approach ensures rapid cooling of the edge during quenching, fostering a dichotomy between the hard edge and the softer back. The stunning real hamon, resulting from differential cooling, narrates the story of the blade's crafting journey.

The blade's exceptional polish is a testament to the HAZUYA technique, where a thin Uchigumori stone is used to achieve a mirror-like surface on the shinogi-ji and edge. The blade’s surface becomes a reflection of the artistry embedded within it.

Eschewing a bo-hi (blood groove) and tsuba (guard), this Tanto follows a minimalist path. The one-piece brass construction Habaki (blade collar) is both practical and elegant. The Tsuka (handle), crafted from resilient hardwood, is wrapped in red genuine Ray skin (Samegawa), ensuring a firm grip. The full tang is secured by two bamboo Mekugi (pins), ensuring stability.

The saya (sheath), featuring black high gloss finishing and red real Ray skin wrapping, beautifully complements the blade. The Koiguchi, hardened with bull horn, is a testament to the Tanto’s meticulous construction.

A symbol of authenticity and tradition, this Tanto is perfect for iaido and kendo practice. It also makes for a thoughtful collector’s piece or a remarkable gift, embodying both realism and beauty.
